Hand Painted Farm Sign with Custom Lettering and QR Integration

This hand painted entrance sign was created for Far Out Farmgirl to serve as both wayfinding and brand identity at the field entrance. Designed to be visible from the road, the sign lets visitors know they’re in the right place while also catching the attention of drive by traffic.

The lettering draws inspiration from psychedelic poster typography with subtle funk and graffiti influences. Bold blue letterforms outlined in orange sit on a warm yellow background for high contrast and roadside visibility. The swash extending from the “A” in “Farm” is intentionally shaped as a directional pointer, guiding visitors toward the gate when the sign is in position.

The circular Far Out Farmgirl logo on the left and the QR code on the right were created using an acrylic medium laser print transfer technique on a primed reclaimed board. The remaining typography and background were fully hand painted with acrylic.

It consists of a primer undercoat, acrylic house paint and UV protective clear coat.

The QR code links directly to the farm’s website, bridging physical signage with digital engagement. This allows visitors to quickly access seasonal offerings such as U-Pick sunflowers, pumpkin patch information, and farm updates.

This project demonstrates custom sign painting, brand-focused typography, functional wayfinding design, and integrated analog-to-digital marketing.
