Custom WordPress Development for a CBD Brand

A smartphone, laptop and tablet displaying the same website to show responsive design set against a backdrop of black and white wavy lines

Peachtree Wellness hired a designer to create a visually rich, animation-heavy website—but it ended up on Shopify, a platform that doesn’t support CBD sales. The result? A beautiful, but non-functional eCommerce site. That’s where I came in.

They wanted to keep the design they paid for, which had been originally crafted in Webflow, but needed it migrated to a platform that could actually sell their products. I rebuilt the entire site from scratch in WordPress using the default 2024 theme and the native block editor, which I prefer for its clean code, future-proof stability, and accessibility.

This wasn’t just a technical migration—it was a full rescue and relaunch. I retained the aesthetic and animation-heavy feel of the original design while making everything fast, responsive, and functional. Using a lightweight plugin stack and custom code, I was able to streamline performance and recreate the custom scroll animations in a way that worked beautifully on both desktop and mobile.

Case Study Summary:

  • The Problem: A flashy design built on a SaaS platform (Shopify) that couldn’t legally process CBD sales.
  • The Solution: I rebuilt the entire site in WordPress using native blocks, recreating the look while giving them full ownership and eCommerce functionality.
  • The Outcome: A responsive, fast-loading CBD website that looks great, sells legally, and can be scaled as the business grows.

This project underscores a point I often make with clients: If you build on a SaaS platform, you don’t really own your website. WordPress is open source—you own it, you control it, and it can grow with your business.

Key Features:

  • Fully responsive design with scroll-based animations
  • Built using the WordPress 2024 theme and block editor
  • Lightweight and performance-optimized
  • Legal eCommerce platform for a CBD business
  • Custom CSS and JavaScript to match the original design

This project is a great example of how I balance design fidelity, performance, and platform freedom to meet real-world business goals.
