Retro Reggae Style Poster
This was a design for posters and flyers for a club’s reggae night. I was going for a retro 70s-80s classic reggae feel.

Hexagram 13
This hexagram means fellowship and is symbolized in this instance by a group of bees facing each other. The elements are heaven over fire so the sun is at the top and at the bottom flames arise from a seed of life sacred geometry motif.

8 Chimpanzee
The meaning of this hexagram is unity, the two trigrams composing it are the elements of Water over Earth which I represented with a stream flowing through a jungle. It’s about coming together in a group. Chimpanzees are social creatures.

The fonts and colors were chosen for friendliness, approachability and a vitality vibe. The mark itself features a sprout.

These are from an ongoing project I’m involved in Illustrating the I Ching for an interpretation which uses animals to illustrate the various hexagrams.

58 Hippo
Hexagram 58 is comprised of lake over lake and means joy or the joyous. The Hippopotamus assists clarify this.

24 Snowy Owl
Hexagram 24 is comprised of the elements of earth over thunder. It’s basic interpretation is return and it’s associated with the winter solstice. The Snowy Owl symbolizes transition. the lightning represents the thunder element as it’s energy rises rise up from within the earth and is finally manifest, ready to expand.
